Score Cards

Depending on the event, there will be one or more Master Score Cards for your group.

  1. If there is one Master Score Card for your group, one person is responsible for the scorecard.  It should include the full name of each player.  Additionally, each player is responsible for keeping her score independent of the Master Score Card in order to attest her score.  Individual scores are not kept for a scramble.
  2. After completing your round, total your gross score, subtract your handicap for your net score, and verify that both scores agree with the Master Score Card. Make sure the Master Score Card is signed, attested, and dated.
  3. If the event requires multiple Master Score Cards for your group, exchange cards with others in your group so that you keep their score and they keep yours. You will also keep your own score in order to attest your own score card, and input it to GHIN.   After you complete your round, total your gross score, subtract your handicap for your net score, and verify that both scores agree with your Master Score Card. Make sure that the scorer signed and dated your Master Score Card and that you’ve attested (signed) it.
  4. Give your Master Score Card to the Golf professional in charge.
Enter your hole-by-hole gross score into the GHIN system.  The system will adjust for your maximum score.  Click here for instructions on how to enter a score into the GHIN system.
  5. Adjusting Your Score: When your actual score needs to be adjusted down for handicap purposes, record the actual score followed by the adjusted score using the dots on the scorecard (for example, 9/7).
  6. Chip-in{s) and Birdies: Circle the hole where the chip-in or birdie occurred. Write the player’s name and hole number at the top of the score card and indicate whether it is a chip-in or birdie. A chip-in is defined as sinking any shot from off the green.  All shots must be made using a legal club.  Birdie recognition awards are presented all Tuesdays of League play.  During scrambles, Birdie recognition is awarded to a player only if all counted strokes are made by one person on the team.
  7. Picking Up:  On Event or Tournament days, if you do not play the hole out, you will be disqualified.
On a non-Event day, if you have your maximum strokes (see explanation in Handicap section), pick up your ball and record X for the hole’s score and indicate your adjusted score next to the ‘X’ (for example, X/9). On an Event or Tournament day, record your actual score and indicate your adjusted score next to it.
